About West Vet Relief, LLC

ER Relief

Julie Corbett has been a part of the Portland veterinary community since 2005. After graduating from Reed College, she worked as an unpaid intern working closely with the Oregon Zoo's animal care & keeper team for a year. Following that internship, she worked her way up at a local general practice moving from CSR to technician assistant to office manager. She became a part of the Portland veterinary practice managers group while also volunteering at the Animal Care Center of the Portland Audubon Society.
From there, she moved into a variety of paraprofessional roles in emergency medicine at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital and served on the leadership team as a manager.
While the love of paraprofessional support and servant leadership was strong, she knew providing services as a DVM was her ultimate goal and she graduated from Oregon State University in 2019. Julie returned to DoveLewis to complete a small animal internship in emergency and critical care before launching her own ER relief service.

Julie completed the Portland VMA's Power of 10 program in 2022 and is now serving as a co-faciliatory for the class of 2023. She is currently working on developing a pre-hospital emergency training course for civilian pets and working dogs.

When she's not working, Julie enjoys trying new recipes (current favorites Falastin and Cindy Her), face and body painting with her company, The Gilded Cat, camping, hiking, gardening, novice photography (not my photo below, I wish it was!), learning how to sail a Thistle dinghy, and exploring the PNW and beyond with her son and partner.
She has two mischievous cats, Edmund, and Mr. Knightley.
