Veterinary Relief

Julie Corbett has been a part of the Portland veterinary community since 2005. After graduating from Reed College, she worked as an unpaid intern working closely with the Oregon Zoo's animal care & keeper team for a year. Following that internship, she worked at a local general practice, moving from CSR to technician assistant to office manager. She joined the Portland veterinary practice managers group and spent time volunteering at the Widlife Care Center of the Bird Alliance of Oregon
From there, she moved into a variety of paraprofessional roles with DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital and served on the leadership team as a manager and member of several committees.
While the love of paraprofessional support and servant leadership was strong, she knew providing services as a DVM was her ultimate goal and she graduated from Oregon State University in 2019. Julie returned to DoveLewis to complete a small animal internship in emergency and critical care before launching her own veterinary relief service.

Julie completed the Portland VMA's Power of 10 program in 2022 and was a co-facilitator for the class of 2023. She spends part of her working hours with Cat Adoption Team as a shelter veterinarian and the remainder as a relief vet for emergency, urgent care, and GP practices.

When she's not working (but still working), she's developing a pre-hospital emergency training course for civilian pets and working dogs. Julie enjoys trying new recipes (current favorites from Falastin and Cindy Her), face and body painting with her company, The Gilded Cat, camping, hiking, gardening, novice photography (not my photo below, I wish it was!), learning how to sail Thistle dinghies, and exploring the PNW and beyond with her kids and partner.
She has two mischievous cats, Edmund, and Mr. Knightley.
